Gionee launches A1 and A1 Plus with Android 7.0 Nougat at MWC 2017

Last week, Gionee had announced two new smartphones in its ‘A series’ named as A1 and A1 Plus at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. Both of them are selfie-focused smartphones that come with selfie flash and metal bodies. Lets check them out below.

Gionee A1

The Gionee A1 sports a 5.5-inch IPS display, while the A1 Plus sports a 6-inch IPS display. Both of them have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) and come with 2.5D curved glass protection. The A1 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Mali-T860 GPU whereas the A1 Plus rocks a MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz with Mali-T880 GPU. Both of them have 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage but the memory can be extended up to 128GB externally by adding a microSD card. These Gionee phones run on Amigo OS based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

In the camera department, both the Gionee A1 and A1 Plus feature a 13 megapixel primary rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, 5P lens, however the A1 Plus also comes with a 5 megapixel secondary rear camera since it sports a dual lens setup at the back. Coming to the front-facing camera, the A1 has a 16 megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens and selfie flash, whereas the A1 Plus boasts of a 20 megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens and selfie flash. These are dual SIM phones and come with a fingerprint sensor located on top of the home button. The Gionee A1 is 8.5mm thick and weighs 182 grams, while the A1 Plus weighs 226 grams and is 9.1mm thick. Both of them have a 3.5mm audio jack and Waves MaxxAudio support.

In the connectivity department, we get 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11 /a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band) and GPS in both the smartphones. Under the hood of the A1, we get a 4010mAh battery whereas the A1 Plus rocks a 4550mAh battery. Both these batteries support fast charging.

The Gionee A1 comes in Gray, Gold and Black colors whereas the A1 Plus comes in Gray and Mocha Gold. They are priced at €349 ($371 / Rs. 24,741 approx.) and €499 ($530 / Rs. 35,375 approx.), respectively. The Gionee A1 will go one sale this month but you have to wait till April to purchase the Gionee A1 Plus.
