LG G6 is the first smartphone in the world to feature Dolby Vision technology

LG has officially unveiled its latest flagship phone, the G6 at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. The company has not announced its pricing or availability yet but it will come in Ice Platinum, Mystic White and Astro Black colors and is rumored to be priced around US $750. It is the first phone in the world to feature Dolby Vision technology along with HDR 10 support.

The LG G6 is not a modular phone like its predecessor. However, it takes inspiration from the LG V20. The G6 features a big 5.7-inch Quad HD+ LCD FullVision display in a small footprint. The display has an aspect ratio of 18:9, resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 564 PPI. The future of smartphones in bezel-less and the G6 also has very thin bezels with a screen-to-body ratio of 78.6%. It is being powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35GHz along with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. For graphics and storage, we get Adreno 530 GPU and 32GB/64GB of internal storage, which can also be extended up to 2TB externally by adding a microSD card.

The G6 runs on LG UX 6.0 UI based on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS. We also get the Google Assistant, which is also coming to all the Android smartphones running on Marshmallow and above. It is a 4G VoLTE enabled phone, which packs in a fingerprint sensor at the back. The G6 has an all metal body which is 7.9mm thick and weighs 163 grams. It is also a water and dust proof phone because of its IP68 certification. Other connectivity options include 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type C 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.2 LE. It also has support for 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC.

Now coming to the camera section of the G6, we find two rear cameras - one 13 megapixel primary lens (71-degree) with f/1.8 aperture and another 13 megapixel secondary wide-angle lens (125-degree) with f/2.4 aperture. There is Dual-tone LED flash, Laser Auto Focus, PDAF, OIS 2.0 and 4K video recording. Talking about the selfie shooter, there is a 5 megapixel lens with f/2.2 aperture and 100-degree wide-angle lens. To power the phone, we get a 3300mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0 and it promises to charge from 0-50% in just 30 minutes.
