Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A5 2017 edition in India. The smartphone was unveiled globally back in January. Just like its predecessor, it is made up of 3D glass and metal and thus it looks as premium as Samsung’s flagship phones, the ‘Galaxy S series’ and the ‘Galaxy Note series’. However, this time it is even better with water and dust proofing. The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is priced at Rs. 28,990 in India and will be available from March 15 in Gold Sand and Black Sky colors. According to the Senior Vice President of Samsung India, the company has gathered consumers’ feedback from previous models and thus have taken the unique design and features approach to provide a premium experience to the users.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 features a 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, which always stays on, has a pixel density of 424 PPI and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The phone is being powered by an Exynos 7880 processor clocked at 1.9GHz along with Mali-T830 GPU. It has 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage but the user can extend it up to 256GB by inserting a microSD card.
Out of the box, the Galaxy A5 runs on TouchWiz UI based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. It should receive the Android 7.0 Nougat OS update in the future but we do not know the exact time period. The phone supports Dual SIM (nano), 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, 3G HSPA+ and USB Type-C. It packs in a 3000mAh battery with adaptive fast charging.
In the camera department, there is a 16 megapixel primary camera with LED flash at the back along with another 16 megapixel selfie camera on the front. Both of them have an aperture of f/1.9 and can record Full HD videos. It boasts of a fingerprint sensor that is embedded in the home button. The fingerprint sensor will also support Samsung Pay, which will be launching in India very soon. Samsung users with compatible phones can register now for early access. The Galaxy A5 is IP68 certified (water and dust proof), comes with a 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio. In terms of thickness, it is 7.9mm thick and it weighs 157 grams.
