Xiaomi has launched its most affordable smartphone in India today. It is the Redmi 4A with 4G VoLTE support, that was unveiled in China back in November last year. The Redmi 4A has been priced at Rs. 5,999 and will go on sale exclusively on Amazon India from March 23 (12PM) in Gold and Gray colors. You can also purchase the Rose Gold variant but only from April 6, 2017.
Xiaomi has also revealed some numbers about its India operations. The company has opened its second manufacturing factory in the country. It now produces ‘one phone every second’ and 95% of the Xiaomi phones sold in India are also ‘Made in India’. Lets now have a look at the features and specifications of the mobile.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A boasts of a unibody design with metal like matte finish but it is made up of polycarbonate material. It comes with a 5-inch IPS display, which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, screen-to-body ratio of 70.2% and a pixel density of 294 PPI. The phone is being powered by the Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at 1.4GHz along with Adreno 308 GPU. For multitasking and storage, there is 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. The memory can be expanded further up to 128GB by inserting a microSD card.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. In the camera department, we get a 13 megapixel primary rear camera. It has f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. There is a 5 megapixel selfie camera on the front with f/2.2 aperture. Both the cameras can record Full HD videos as well. It is a 4G VoLTE enabled Dual SIM phone but there is a hybrid slot (micro + nano/microSD card). Other connectivity features are 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, GLONASS, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Infrared sensor.
The Redmi 4A does not come with a fingerprint sensor but packs in a 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio and a 3120mAh battery. However, the battery does not support fast charging out of the box. The phone is 8.5mm thick and weighs 131.5 grams.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A will soon be added to our best smartphones under 6000 segment soon as it costs Rs. 5,999 and undoubtedly is one of the best phones, if not the best, in this price range.
