Xiaomi has announced the Mi 5X in China today. It is one of the budget dual camera smartphones, which offers portrait mode along with bokeh effect. The phone has a unibody metal design with rounded edges along with anti-fingerprint coating on the back for a smooth finish. Find out the specifications and features of the Mi 5X below.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X features a 5.5-inch 2.5D curved glass IPS LTPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD), pixel density of 401 PPI and 450 nits of brightness. It is being powered by a Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz along with Adreno 506 GPU. For multitasking and storage, we get 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage (eMMC 5.0), which can also be extended up to 128GB by adding a microSD card.
The Mi 5X runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1.1 NougatĀ OS out of the box and will be upgradable to MIUI 9 for free, which is slated to come out sometime in August. It is a Dual SIM (micro + nano) phone but comes with hybrid slot. It has 4G VoLTE support along with 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), GPS, GLONASS and USB Type-C. The phone is 7.3mm thick, weighs 165 grams, comes with a 3.5mm audio jack and dedicated amplifier.
In the camera department, the Mi 5X boasts of a dual camera setup - a 12 megapixel primary camera with wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and another 12 megapixel secondary camera with telephoto lens, f/2.6 aperture and PDAF. We get a 5 megapixel front-facing selfie camera on the front. Under the hood, there is a 3080mAh battery (non-removable). There is a fingerprint sensor located at the back and an Infrared sensor on the front.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X is priced at 1499 Yuan ($222 / Rs. 14,278 approx.) and will go on sale in China starting from August 1. Xiaomi might bring the device to India by the end of September.
