Xiaomi India launches Redmi 4 in three different RAM and ROM variants

After launching its most affordable smartphone in India back in March, Xiaomi has now launched the Redmi 4 in the country today. It is the successor of the Redmi 3S, which was announced in China back earlier this year. Lets take a look at the features and specifications of the Redmi 4 below.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 has a HD 2.5D display, Snapdragon 430, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, MIUI 8, Fingerprint and Infrared sensor, 13 and 5 MP cameras, 4G VoLTE, 4100mAh fast charging battery

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a 5-inch 2.5D curved glass IPS display, which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, screen-to-body ratio of 69.1% and a pixel density of 296 PPI. The phone is being powered by the Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz along with Adreno 505 GPU. For multitasking and storage, there are three variants - 2GB RAM with 16GB ROM / 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM and 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM. The memory can be expanded further up to 128GB by inserting a microSD card.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and the company is also offering beta test of Android 7.0 Nougat OS. In the camera department, we get a 13 megapixel primary rear camera. It has f/2.0 aperture, LED flash, 5P lens and PDAF. There is a 5 megapixel selfie camera on the front with f/2.2 aperture. Both the cameras can record Full HD videos as well. It is a 4G VoLTE enabled Dual SIM phone but there is a hybrid slot (nano + nano/microSD card). Other connectivity features are 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, GLONASS, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. We also get an Infrared sensor along with a fingerprint sensor, that is located on the back side.

The Redmi 4 body is made up of metal, it comes with a 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio. There is a massive 4100mAh battery under the hood but it does not support fast charging. The phone is 8.65mm thick and weighs 150 grams.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 is priced at Rs. 6,999 for 2GB RAM, Rs. 8,999 for 3GB RAM and the 4GB RAM variant costs Rs. 10,999 in India. It will go on sale from May 23 via Amazon India and Mi.com in Gorgeous Black and Elegant Gold colors.
