Xiaomi launches Mi Note 3 with 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 660 processor

Along with the bezel-less Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi has also announced a mid-ranged smartphone in its ‘Mi Note series’ named the Mi Note 3 at an event in China today. The main USP of this phone is its dual rear cameras that has 2x optical zoom and portrait mode. The phone features a curved glass body with aluminium frame. While the Mi MIX 2 is slated to arrive in India very soon but we do not have any information on the Indian launch of Mi Note 3 yet.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD), pixel density of 401 PPI and 550 nits of brightness. It is being powered by a Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz along with Adreno 512 GPU. For multitasking and storage, we get 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage (eMMC 5.1), but you cannot expand the storage further as it does not have a microSD card slot.

In the camera department, the Mi Note 3 boasts of a dual camera setup – a 12 megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, 4-axis OIS and another 12 megapixel secondary camera with f/2.6 aperture and 52mm portrait lens. It can shoot 4K videos and as usual, the second lens is for capturing depth information for background blur (bokeh) effect and 2x lossless optical zoom. We get a 16 megapixel front-facing selfie camera on the front. Under the hood, there is a 3500mAh battery (non-removable) with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. There is a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button along with face unlocking feature. It has an Infrared sensor and stereo speakers as well.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out of the box. It is a Dual SIM phone (nano) and has 4G VoLTE support along with 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band) MU-MIMO, NFC, USB Type-C and GPS/GLONASS. The phone is 7.6mm thick, weighs 163 grams and is made up of aluminium and glass.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is priced at 2499 Yuan ($383 / Rs. 24,433 approx.) for the 64GB ROM variant while the 128GB ROM model in Black color costs 2899 Yuan ($444 / Rs. 28,344 approx.) and the Blue model with same configuration is priced at 2999 Yuan ($460 / Rs. 29,322 approx.) in China.
