Xiaomi CEO teases Mi MIX II with higher screen-to-body ratio

Xiaomi Mi MIX, one of the best bezel-less phones in the world was announced back in October last year. It was more of a concept phone turned into reality that boasted of a screen-to-body ratio of 91.3%, which is kind of insane and not so practical for daily use purpose as well. It surely is the future of smartphones design but we are sometime away from it though.

Xiaomi Mi MIX - Best Bezel-less Phone in the world

If we go by the recent development in the tech world, it looks like Xiaomi is already working on the successor of the highly acclaimed Mi MIX and it will have a brand new design. Also, Xiaomi’s CEO - Lei Jun has confirmed the development by posting some details on his official Weibo page about the upcoming Mi MIX II (assumption).

According to the CEO, the upcoming bezel-less wonder will also be designed by world-renowned designer Philippe Starck, who had designed the original Mi MIX. We can expect the smartphone to be covered entirely by the display on the front and there will be no physical button. Also, the phone is expected to have a higher screen-to-body ratio than the Mi MIX.

If we look back at the hardware specifications of the Mi MIX, it features a 6.4-inch Full HD display with an aspect ratio of 17:9, resolution of 2040 x 1080 pixels. It is being powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor along with 6GB RAM and 256GB ROM. The phone runs on MIUI 8 based on Marshmallow OS out of the box. The 5 megapixel selfie camera is custom-made since it is 50% smaller than standard camera sensors and there is a 16 megapixel primary camera at the back. It packs in a 4400mAh battery under its hood. The MIX uses ultrasonic technology along with Cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic system for the users to listen to calls without the earpiece.
