Xiaomi India launches Mi Max 2 with 5300mAh battery for Rs. 16999

Xiaomi Mi Max 2, a big screen smartphone, has been officially launched in India today. It is the successor of the Mi Max, which was first unveiled in China back in May 2016. Lets take a look at the features, specifications and pricing of the phablet below.

The main USP of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is its 5300mAh battery (non-removable) with support for Quick Charge 3.0 technology. It promises up to 57 hours of talk time or 18 hours of video playback on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 0-68% in just 60 minutes along with parallel charging. It boasts of a 6.44-inch IPS 2.5D curved glass display, which has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD), pixel density of 342 PPI and screen-to-body ratio of 74%. The phablet features 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, GLONASS, 3G HSPA+, USB Type-C and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band) MIMO.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and Adreno 506 GPU. For multitasking and storage, there is 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. The user can expand the storage externally up to 128GB by adding a microSD card. The Mi Max 2 is a Dual SIM (micro + nano) phone but it comes with a hybrid SIM slot. The phablet runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out of the box.

In the camera department, we get a 12 megapixel primary camera with Sony IMX386 sensor, dual-tone LED flash, PDAF and f/2.2 aperture at the back. It can record 1080p videos. On the front, there is a 5 megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The Mi Max 2 features a unibody metal design, that is 7.6mm thick and weighs 211 grams. There is a fingerprint sensor, which is located at the back and can unlock the phone very quickly. We also get an Infrared sensor along with dual stereo speakers.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is priced at Rs. 16,999 in India and will be available on July 20 and July 21 from Mi.com. The open sale will start from July 27 and it will be sold via both online (Flipkart, Amazon, Tata Cliq, Paytm) and offline retail stores (Croma, Lot, Vijay Sales, eZone, Reliance Digital, Poorvika, BigC and Sangeetha. The Matte Black color variant will be sold in the country.
