LG had unveiled the G6, its latest flagship smartphone at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona back in February 2017. Today, the smartphone was officially launched in India and is already on sale via Amazon and offline retail stores for Rs. 51,990 in Astro Black, Mystic White and Ice Platinum. The G6 has become the first phone in the world to feature Dolby Vision technology along with HDR 10 support.
The LG G6 rocks a 5.7-inch LCD FullVision display, which has an aspect ratio of 18:9, resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels (Quad HD+) and a pixel density of 564 PPI. The future of smartphones is certainly going to be bezel-less and the G6 also sports very thin bezels along with a screen-to-body ratio of 78.6%. The G6 is being powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35GHz along with 4GB RAM. For graphics and storage, there is Adreno 530 GPU and 64GB of internal storage, which can also be extended up to 2TB externally by adding a microSD card.
In the camera department of the LG G6, there are two rear cameras – one 13 megapixel primary lens (71-degree) with f/1.8 aperture and another 13 megapixel secondary wide-angle lens (125-degree) with f/2.4 aperture. We also get Dual-tone LED flash, Laser Auto Focus, PDAF, OIS 2.0 and 4K video recording. Coming to the selfie shooter, we get a 5 megapixel lens with f/2.2 aperture and 100-degree wide-angle lens. There is a 3300mAh battery under its hood to power the phone and it also support for Quick Charge 3.0. According to LG, the G6 promises to charge from 0-50% in just 30 minutes.
The G6 runs on the latest LG UX 6.0 UI based on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS. There is Google Assistant, which is now also available on all the Android smartphones running on Marshmallow and above. The G6 is a 4G VoLTE enabled phone, which packs in a fingerprint sensor at the back. It has an all metal body, which is 7.9mm thick and weighs 163 grams. It is also water and dust resistant as it has received IP68 certification. Other connectivity features include USB Type C 2.0, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), GPS, GLONASS, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2 LE. The G6 also has support for 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC.
