BlackBerry launches its first Dual SIM phone named Aurora in Indonesia

BlackBerry had announced the KEYone with a QWERTY keypad last month at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. Now, the company has now launched a normal touch screen phone running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS named BlackBerry Aurora in Indonesia last week. It is also the company’s first ever Dual SIM phone. The Aurora has been made by a company named BB Merah Putih, obviously in association with BlackBerry.

The Aurora was specifically designed for the Indonesian customers and is also going to be made in Indonesia, according to BlackBerry. There will be regular security updates from BlackBerry’s side and the phone is also integrated with great security features in each and every process.

Starting with hardware specifications, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz is powering the Aurora along with the Adreno 308 GPU. It features a 5.5-inch IPS display, which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, screen-to-body ratio of 71.4% and a pixel density of 267 PPI. In terms of RAM and ROM, we get 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM but the internal storage can be extended up to 256GB by inserting a microSD card. The phone runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

The BlackBerry Aurora is a 4G LTE phone with Dual SIM support. Other connectivity options include 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GLONASS and GPS. Under the hood, there is a 3000mAh battery to power the phone but it is missing fast charging support. In the camera department, we get a 13 megapixel primary camera at the back with a dual-tone LED flash and a 8 megapixel selfie camera at the front. The Aurora is slightly on the heavier side at 178 grams and it is 8.55mm thick.

The BlackBerry Aurora is priced at RP 34,99,000 ($262 / Rs. 17,420 approx.) and is available in Gold, Black and Silver colors. If it ever gets launched in India, we can think about including it in our best smartphones under 20000 segment.
